It was then that William and Uberta happened upon the same idea. Derek and Odette will be brought together each summer, in hopes that they will fall in love, and join their Kingdoms forever. But unknown to all was another plan, that of the evil enchanter Rothbart. Odette's birth was of little concern to him, for he was preparing to take William's Kingdom, by means of the forbidden arts. On the eve of his assault, William attacked and Rothbart's powers were plunged into darkness. Despite calls for his death, the enchanter was only banished. Reviews
The Swan Princess might as well be the unofficial sequel to "Beauty and the Beast (1991)." It's not quite as good or fresh, but it's delicious all the same, bound to amuse children and entertain their trapped parents, too. (The New York Times)

For "The Swan Princess", Pillsburry is conducting a retail display conteast for its supermarket accounts. The winners and their sales rep get a free castle tour of Europe. (Billboard - Google Books)

While a perfectly serviceable confection for small fry, The Swan Princess will likely have its neck wrung commercially by all the high-profile competition aimed at the children's/family market this holiday season, as well as Disney's sabotage in reissuing The Lion King (1994). (Variety)

The film was followed by four direct-to-video sequels: The Swan Princess: Escape from Castle Mountain (1997), The Swan Princess: The Mystery of the Enchanted Kingdom (1998), The Swan Princess Christmas (2012), and The Swan Princess: A Royal Family Tale (2014). A sixth film, The Swan Princess: Princess Tomorrow, Pirate Today, was released on September 6, 2016, while the official trailer for the film was released on June 27. A seventh film is also in production. (Wikipedia)
