Part 1 Pictures and full quotes QUEEN TUYA: Come, Rameses. We will show Pharaoh your new baby brother, MosesWe will show Pharaoh your new baby brother, Moses. ["And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.", Exodus 2.6.] PRINCE MOSES: Ha, ha! RAMESES: Faster, you beasts! You run like mules. PRINCE MOSES: Hey, Rameses, how'd you like your face carved on a wall?Rameses, how'd you like your face carved on a wall? RAMESES: Someday, yes. PRINCE MOSES: How about now? RAMESES: Ah! You almost killed me! PRINCE MOSES: Oh, come on. Where's your sense of fun? RAMESES: Oh, it's fun you want? Whoa! PRINCE MOSES: Whoa! Aah! RAMESES: Ohh. Moses? PRINCE MOSES: Whoa! RAMESES: Come on, Moses. Admit it. You've always looked up to me. PRINCE MOSES: Yes, but it's not much of a view. RAMESES: Hyah! Whoo! PRINCE MOSES: Hey! RAMESES: Second born, second place. PRINCE MOSES: Not for long. RAMESES: Whoa! PRINCE MOSES: You don't think we'll get in trouble for this, do you? RAMESES: No, not a chance. SETI: Why do the gods torment me with such reckless, destructive, blasphemous sons? RAMESES: Father, hear what I... SETI: Be still! Pharaoh speaks. I seek to build an empirePharaoh speaks. I seek to build an empire, and your only thought is to amuse yourselves by tearing it down. Have I taught you nothing? HOTEP: You mustn't be so hard on yourself, Your Majesty. You're an excellent teacher. HUY: It's not your fault your sons learned nothingIt's not your fault your sons learned nothing. HOTEP: They learned blasphemy. HUY: True. PRINCE MOSES: Father, the fault is mine. I goaded Rameses on, and so I am responsible. SETI: Responsible. Do you know the meaning of that word, Rameses? RAMESES: I understand, Father. SETI: And do you understand the task for which your birth has destined you? The ancient traditions. When I pass into the next world, then you will be the morning and evening star. RAMESES: One damaged temple does not destroy centuries of traditionOne damaged temple does not destroy centuries of tradition.
SETI: But one weak link can break the chain of a mighty dynasty! You have my leave to go.
RAMESES: Father.
MOSES: Father? You know it was really my fault. Must you be so hard on him?
SETI: Moses, you will never have to carry a burden like the crown I will pass to Rameses. He must not allow himself to be led astray, not even by you, my son.
MOSES: All he cares about is your approval.
I know he will live up to your expectations.
He only needs the opportunity.
SETI: Maybe. Maybe so. Go now.
I shall see you both tonight.

Historical considerations
The Plagues of Egypt also called the ten plagues were ten calamities that, according to the biblical Book of Exodus, Israel's God inflicted upon Egypt to persuade the Pharaoh to release the ill-treated Israelites from slavery: 1. Water into blood; 2. Frogs; 3. Lice; 4. Wild animals, possibly flies; 5. Diseased livestock; 6. Boils; 7. Thunderstorm of hail and fire; 8. Locusts; 9. Darkness; 10. Death of firstborn (the final plague kills all the firstborn children of Egypt, including Rameses' son, while sparing those of the Hebrews)

Trivia
During the starting race sequence, the statue's falling nose is a playful nod to an archaeological mystery of Ancient Egypt: the Sphynx's nose, as well, is missing and no one knows what happened to it. Val Kilmer provides a voice for both Moses and God. Charlton Heston also played both parts in The Ten Commandments (1956).
