It'll be quieter when you're gone. START 1: Come on. If he wants to freeze to death, let him. SID: I'm up. I'm up. Rise and shine, everybody. Huh? Zak? Marshall? Bertie? Uncle Fungus? Where is everybody? Come on, guys, we're gonna miss the migrationCome on, guys, we're gonna miss the migration. They left without me. They do this every year. Why? Doesn't anyone love me? Isn't there anyone who cares about Sid the Sloth? All right, I'll just go by myself. Sick. Wide body, curb it next time. Oh, jeez. Yuck. CARL: I can't believe it. Fresh wild greensFresh wild greens. Frank, where did you ever...? FRANK: Go ahead. Dig in. CARL: A dandelion. I thought the frost wiped 'em all out. FRANK: All but one. SID: It makes me so... I wanna... Yuck. This has definitely not been my day. You know what I'm sayin', buddy? What a mess. You rhinos have tiny brains. Did you know that? It's just a fact. No offense. You probably didn't even know what I'm talkin' about. Yummo. A dandelion. Must be the last one of the season. FRANK: Carl. CARL: Easy, Frank. FRANK: He ruined our salad. SID: My mistake. That was my mistake. Let me. No, no, seriously, let me take care of this. What is this? Pine cones. Oh, my goodness. They're my favorite, deliciousThey're my favorite, delicious. That's good eating. MANNY: If it's not them today, it's someone else tomorrow. SID: Well, I'd rather it not be today. OK? CARL: Look! We'll break your neck so you don't feel a thing. MANNY: Wait a minute. I thought rhinos were vegetarians. SID: An excellent point. MANNY: Shut up. CARL: Who says we're gonna eat him after we kill him? MANNY: I don't like animals that kill for pleasure. CARL: Save it for a mammal that cares. SID: I'm a mammal that cares. MANNY: OK, if either of you make it across that sinkhole in front of ya, you get the sloth. SID: That's right, you losers. You take one step and you're dead. You were bluffing, huh? MANNY: Yeah. Yeah, that was a bluff. CARL AND FRANK: Get him. CARL: A dandelion? SID: We did it. You have beautiful eyes. MANNY: Get off my face. SID: Whoa, we make a great team. What do you say we head south together? MANNY: Great. Jump on my back and relax the whole way. SID: Wow, really? MANNY: No. SID: Wait, aren't you going south? The change of seasons, migration instincts. Any of this a-ringin' a bell? MANNY: I guess not. Bye. SID: OK, then. Thanks for the help. Trivia

All the actors were encouraged to improvise as much as possible to help keep the animation spontaneous.
The drawings of characters during the end credit roll were all done by the children of the animators. The same is true of the picture that Sid draws of himself on a cave wall. Sid's drawing was done by 3 year old Will Shefelman, son of a story artist Dan Shefelman.
Though Scrat was designed as a fictional animal, in 2009, scientists in Argentina unearthed the remains of a small, extinct mammal resembling a shrew with long fangs. This animal was given the scientific name of "Cronopio Dentiacutus", in tribute to Scrat. The name is a combination of the words 'squirrel' and 'rat', as Scrat has characteristics of both species. Scrat's opening adventure was inserted because, without it, the first real snow and ice sequence wouldn't take place until about 37 minutes into the film. This was the only role intended for Scrat, but he proved to be such a popular character with test audiences that he was given more scenes, and has appeared in other movies.
