Reviews
Castles are so Enya that she has purchased one herself, Ayesha Castle in Killiney, south Dublin. On one side she overlooks the Wicklow Mountains, on another the Irish Sea. "It's very castle on the exterior," she says, "but it's very much a home inside. It's actually a very small castle and I fell in love with it." (The Sydney Morning Herald, Dec. 2000)

Enya's quotes:
Going home I'm thinking not so much of the power of dreams as of the question of packaging and selling them. And wondering not only if the marketplace can take the weight of this particular dream-sequence but also what the beast of commerce might do with the dreams it's entrusted with. I had very set ideas about what I wanted to create. It had to be something of mine and I didn't want it to be a kind of museum. What I was looking for was a romantic athmosphere that I could feel at home with. I think I've achieved that. I love my home. I have friends round. I take care to live in it, not to work in it. I don't write my music in my home, only in the studio; I want as normal life as possible at home, with dinner parties and entertaining. I would never be able to work anywhere else, certainly never at home. It's a very, very, peaceful, calming place.

I do remember as a child in Gweedore, which is in the north-west of Ireland, having snow at Christmastime. And it does add to the atmosphere, to actually wake up and have the snow, to be able to go out and build the snowman. So it's quite exciting for a child to see snow, it was something that was quite magical for Christmas.

I don't take anything for granted. Every day your level of success goes down. You have to earn success - sweat for it. But if you give your best you'll be happy at least. When I finish an album depression sets in and I go home. Donegal is so important to me. It's wild and very beautiful, but it's also home, where my parents live. When I go home to Donegal, my parents expect the same old Enya to walk through the door. They're very understanding; they know I don't want to talk about my work. Gweedore isn't a village but a parish, so the houses are scattered and you get a great sense of space.
